Director of Children and Youth Formation

In a suburban, vibrant, pastoral size parish we seek an experienced, creative, and organized individual with a passion for Christian Formation in young people. This individual would join the Rector and volunteers in organizing and implementing programs for a variety of ages to learn the stories of Christ’s love and form spiritual practices that support faith development. Understanding of liturgical year, sacraments, valuing the significance for outreach as formation, and a desire to form community of love and acceptance would support this individual as they bring new ideas and also sustain continuity in programs. Minister of Music (Part Time)

All Saints, Western Springs, seeks a part-time (10-12 hours per week) Minister of Music. We are a small but exciting church with an average Sunday attendance in the mid-50s. We love our music program and enjoy singing as a congregation. A volunteer choir rehearses weekly, as available, and the congregation is supportive of new musical efforts. Worship at All Saints is fairly casual, but we celebrate the Eucharist weekly and adhere to a “Broad Church” tradition.

The ideal candidate would be a skilled organist (preferably with some background in the Anglican or similar liturgical tradition), who is excited about learning and sharing new skills. Proficiency with other instruments a plus, but not required. The Minister of Music will be responsible for the selection, rehearsal and performance of all musical pieces for services, and encouraged to pursue other opportunities to enrich the musical experience of the congregation in and out of worship. Hours are flexible most weeks, with the clear exception of Christmas and Holy Week. Three weeks (including Sundays) are provided as paid time off, with another week (including Sunday) for continuing education (a small budget is also provided to pay conference or material fees for continuing ed). Organist/Music Director (Part Time)

St. Martin’s, Des Plaines seeks an organist/music director to provide service music, in coordination with the Rector, for regular and special worship services. The organist/music director will lead congregational singing from the organ and/or piano and work with Rector in planning weekly hymns and seasonal music. The regular Sunday worship that includes music is at 10 am and additional seasonal services include Ash Wednesday, Holy Week and Easter, Christmas Eve and Day, and other services as determined by the rector.  Additional responsibilities include potentially directing and accompanying a seasonal choir; making purchases/claiming expenses with Rector approval and within music budget; advising on upkeep and tuning for organ; attending Annual Meeting (usually in January); providing music for weddings and funerals or securing a substitute organist, if not available.

This is a part-time salaried position (8-12 hours per week). Candidates should show prior experience as a church organist, provide music for organ and piano drawn from a variety of genres and periods, demonstrate the ability to improvise in various styles of music, demonstrate familiarity with Episcopal music tradition, be sensitive to the appropriate tone and mood of services throughout the liturgical year, be comfortable playing various styles of music, from liturgical/traditional to more contemporary, and value sacred music as an important element of worship rather than an opportunity to perform. The instrument is a +2-manual tracker.

Youth and Children's Director (Part Time)

Grace Episcopal Church in New Lenox is a rapidly growing, progressive congregation of the Episcopal Church, located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Our parish is seeking a part-time youth & children’s ministry director, who will lead and coordinate all ministries and activities of programs related to children ages 3-18. This person will ideally be a combination of educator, pastor and administrator to this vital ministry age range.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee the design and implementation of the children’s Sunday School programming; oversee and implement a new youth group program for teens age 12-18, including running weekly youth group meetings with curriculum and coordinating between parents, teens and volunteers; oversee and direct our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) program in the summer; be willing (and ready to receive training if necessary) to preach at least occasionally for weekend worship services; and coordinate child care and nursery attendants or sitters. Other Points of Note
● The Youth & Children’s Director reports to the Rector (Priest), though salary is approved by the Vestry (lay leaders / board of directors)
● The Youth & Children’s Director will have office space and the church will provide access to a computer, internet and phone
