Youth and Children's Director (Part Time)

Grace Episcopal Church in New Lenox is a rapidly growing, progressive congregation of the Episcopal Church, located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Our parish is seeking a part-time youth & children’s ministry director, who will lead and coordinate all ministries and activities of programs related to children ages 3-18. This person will ideally be a combination of educator, pastor and administrator to this vital ministry age range.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: Oversee the design and implementation of the children’s Sunday School programming; oversee and implement a new youth group program for teens age 12-18, including running weekly youth group meetings with curriculum and coordinating between parents, teens and volunteers; oversee and direct our annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) program in the summer; be willing (and ready to receive training if necessary) to preach at least occasionally for weekend worship services; and coordinate child care and nursery attendants or sitters. Other Points of Note
● The Youth & Children’s Director reports to the Rector (Priest), though salary is approved by the Vestry (lay leaders / board of directors)
● The Youth & Children’s Director will have shared office space and the church will provide access to a computer, internet and phone

Director of Music (Part Time)

Founded in 1929, Calvary is a small family-style congregation with a big heart. The average Sunday attendance at our 9 a.m. service is 40, with a 10-member choir. We are an intergenerational congregation seeking to grow our Sunday attendance through dynamic worship experiences. We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic team member to lead our music program, embracing our desire for growth in diverse membership.

The Music Director must provide music leadership of every Sunday worship service, using our electronic keyboard, and other services including Holy Week, Christmas, ecumenical services, and multi-racial/ethnic services. He or she will also direct the Adult Choir in weekly rehearsals from September through May, and recruit other members for the choir. The Music Director will choose the music for each Sunday service and insert it as needed into the bulletin master on the computer. Other computer skills include providing information about the music program for the church web site, and sharing upcoming music events on social media.

Camp Manager for Summer in the City (Temporary, Contract)

Summer in the City, hosted by St. James Cathedral, seeks a Camp Manager. Summer in the City (SITC) is a non-residential day camp that hosts thirty young campers ages 8-13 from different parts of Chicago. SITC is an adventure and art camp allowing Chicago youth to discover treasure in their city, themselves and others.

The Summer in the City Camp Manager is responsible for creating a safe and smooth operating summer camp. A strong relationship to other leaders, managers, directors, vendors, and Cathedral Staff is vital to the success of this program. The SITC Camp Manager executes many aspects of the camp’s most important functions, including trip and activity planning and preparation, record keeping, and regularly communicating with parents. As a youth development camp, the SITC Camp Manager is expected to lead a team that values hard work and integrity. Camp Counselors for Summer in the City (Temporary, Contract)

Summer in the City (SITC) seeks counselors who are exciting and creative individuals responsible for creating an inviting, stimulating, and safe summer camp environment. SITC Camp Counselors assist many aspects of the camp including trips, daily activities, and communicating with volunteers and parents. As a youth development camp, SITC Camp Counselors are expected to contribute to a team-centered working environment that is friendly, respectful, open and honest. Camp Counselors are required to attend training and be available for the entire camp. SITC staff work together to share ideas and to develop projects and daily activities with staff and artists. Minister of Music (Part Time)

Minister of Music (Part Time)

All Saints, Western Springs

All Saints, Western Springs, seeks a part-time (10-12 hours per week) Minister of Music. We are a small but exciting church with an average Sunday attendance in the mid-50s. We love our music program and enjoy singing as a congregation. A volunteer choir rehearses weekly, as available, and the congregation is supportive of new musical efforts. Worship at All Saints is fairly casual, but we celebrate the Eucharist weekly and adhere to a “Broad Church” tradition.

The ideal candidate would be a skilled organist (preferably with some background in the Anglican or similar liturgical tradition), who is excited about learning and sharing new skills. Proficiency with other instruments a plus, but not required. The Minister of Music will be responsible for the selection, rehearsal and performance of all musical pieces for services, and encouraged to pursue other opportunities to enrich the musical experience of the congregation in and out of worship. Hours are flexible most weeks, with the clear exception of Christmas and Holy Week. Three weeks (including Sundays) are provided as paid time off, with another week (including Sunday) for continuing education (a small budget is also provided to pay conference or material fees for continuing ed).
