Minister of Music (Part Time)

Grace Place Episcopal Church
637 S. Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60605

Grace Place Episcopal Church in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood seeks a part-time Minister of Music to facilitate the church’s music program and the musical expression of the worshipping congregation. The Minister of Music is less a performer than a teacher and leader of worship, who understands this position as a platform to build up the community through music. She or he will select the music for each service in consultation with the Rector, play the musical portions of the service on the church’s grand piano and/or other musical instruments, and hire additional musicians for special services and events. The Minister of Music is also responsible for all technological needs related to music in online and online/in-person hybrid worship. When the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago enters Phase 5 of recovery from COVID-19, the Music Minister will additionally be responsible for leading regular congregational singing and occasional small choral ensembles. Hours: average 6-10 hours per week
