Deacons in the Diocese

Deacons serve congregations in the diocese by assignment of the bishop. The role of the deacon is community focused, helping the congregation to know and understand the needs of the wider community and world and, in turn, to bring the members of the congregation into ministry in the community and the world. The role of the deacon in the congregation is non-stipendiary, and while the deacon serves a liturgical role, liturgy is not the primary ministry of a deacon. The archdeacon is responsible for working with the bishop on deploying deacons, pastoral care for deacons and community events for deacons.
