184th Annual Convention
The 184th Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago took place Saturday, November 20, 2021 as a virtual gathering. Convention is the annual business meeting of the diocese, during which we elect leaders, consider resolutions and hear reports from across the diocese and the wider church.
Voting participants at convention include the clergy of the diocese and lay delegates elected from each congregation. All voting was conducted electronically following the Rules of Order for a Virtual Convention. General attendees and visitors were invited to observe the proceedings online or to listen by phone.

The convention elected these leaders to office:
Standing Committee: Anne Jolly reelected to a three-year term (clergy).

Commissions, committees and task forces of the diocese submit annual reports to Diocesan Convention. In 2021, reports were submitted by the Anti-Racism Commission, Archives Committee, Audit Review Committee, The Bishop & Trustees, Clergy Compensation Committee, Clergy Relief Society, Commission on Ministry, Congregations Commission, Diocesan Council, Ecumenical & Interreligious Affairs Committee, Episcopal Church Women, Health Insurance Annual Report, Hispanic/Latino Ministry, Hunger Committee, Peace & Justice Committee, Sanctuary Diocese Task Force, and Trustees of the Endowment Fund. Friday Evening Worship
On Friday, November 19 at 7 pm, the people of the diocese joined in a simple online worship service to end the week and prepare for the next day’s business. The service is available on the diocesan Facebook page and YouTube channel. Download the Friday evening worship bulletin.
Saturday Morning Prayer
On Saturday, November 20 at 9 am, the 184th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Chicago began with a virtual service of Morning Prayer, featuring a sermon from Bishop Chilton Knudsen.
