Beloved in Christ,

At Christmas we remember not only the holy birth of Jesus, but also the journeys that surrounded it. Mary traveled to Elizabeth, and together they shared joy, courage, and faith in God’s promise. Mary and Joseph, with haste and trust, fled from Bethlehem to protect their newborn son. And the sages from the East traveled together, seeking the child who would bring light to the nations.

As a diocese, journeying together means collaborating and connecting across distance and difference. When we engage God’s message together, its power is amplified—our voices joined in prayer, our ministries strengthened in partnership, our witness magnified in unity. Just as those first companions in the Gospel supported one another on their journeys, we too are called to share the road: to encourage, to listen, and to bear witness to Christ’s love side by side.

In this season, may we cherish the gift of community—the friends, family, and congregations who journey with us. May we also remember those who long for companionship, and extend to them the welcome of Emmanuel, God-with-us.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us carry Christ’s light into the world together, with hope, justice, and joy.

Amados en Cristo,

En Navidad recordamos no solo el santo nacimiento de Jesús, sino también los viajes que lo rodearon. María viajó adonde Elisabet, y juntas compartieron alegría, valor y fe en la promesa de Dios. María y José, con prisa y confianza, huyeron de Belén para proteger a su hijo recién nacido. Y los sabios del Este viajaron juntos, buscando al niño que traería luz a las naciones.

Como diócesis, viajar juntos significa colaborar y conectar a través de la distancia y la diferencia. Cuando nos enfrentamos juntos al mensaje de Dios, su poder se amplifica: nuestras voces unidas en oración, nuestros ministerios fortalecidos en asociación, nuestro testimonio magnificado en unidad. Así como esos primeros compañeros del Evangelio se apoyaron mutuamente en su camino, nosotros también estamos llamados a compartir el camino: a animar, a escuchar y a dar testimonio del amor de Cristo lado a lado.

En esta temporada, atesoremos el regalo de la comunidad: los amigos, la familia y las congregaciones que viajan con nosotros. Que también recordemos a quienes anhelan compañía y les brindemos la bienvenida de Emanuel, Dios-con-nosotros.

Al celebrar el nacimiento de Jesús, llevemos juntos la luz de Cristo al mundo, con esperanza, justicia y alegría.

Les deseo una Navidad bendecida y un año nuevo lleno de gracia y paz.
