CROP Hunger Walks 2022

An Invitation from the Hunger Committee

CROP Walks raise funds to fight hunger, globally and locally. The Chicago CROP Hunger Walk will be held on October 16, 2022. Both the 5K walk and a one-mile, shorter option begin and end at First Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1124 S. Ashland.  The CROP Walk event begins at noon with a family fun fest. Walker check-in is at 1 pm. The walk starts at 1:30 pm and ends by approximately 3:30 pm.  Congregations and individuals are invited to sponsor a team or walker from St. Thomas, Santa Teresa, St. James Cathedral, or St. John’s Episcopal churches in Chicago, or create your own team, at this link.

Is your congregation outside of the city of Chicago?  There are many CROP Hunger Walks this fall, and a few next spring, in other communities across our diocese, from Peoria to Galena to Waukegan. Click on the map or enter your community’s name at https://events.crophungerwalk.org/2022 to find the walk nearest you, and encourage your congregation to participate:

25% of CROP Walk funds return to local food pantries and other hunger-related programs; the remaining funds are used where the need is greatest.  Many congregational hunger-related ministries can apply to their local CROP Walk committee for a portion of the walk proceeds.  The diocesan Hunger Committee is one of the entities that receive and disburse Chicago’s local CROP Walk funds.
