At Camp Chicago we are passionate about producing leaders who will impact both our camp and wider communities. The Leader in Training (LIT) program is designed for campers age 16-17 who would like to grow in their Christian leadership abilities. The LIT program focuses on camp leadership skills that are applicable to all aspects of life.

What do campers do in LIT?

LIT campers spend their first week in the woods. They sleep in tents, cook over a fire, and live in community. The LIT staff will lead the campers in Peer Ministry Leadership training to build their skills for welcoming, listening, and helping. LIT campers also spend time reflecting on their relationship with God, their gifts, and who they are called to be as leaders. During the second week of LIT, Peer Ministry training will continue as the campers begin to practice their leadership skills with the rest of the camp as they shadow camp staff and assist with the program for younger campers. LIT’s also do fun activities throughout the program such as canoeing, low ropes, and high ropes.

How to register

Online registration for Camp Chicago 2020 sessions will open in January. You can also request a paper copy registration if that better suits your needs. And feel free to download the LIT brochure to share with your church and community.
