The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago offers a variety of youth events and retreats. These events are meant to build connections with the wider church and serve the formation of young people in Christ. We invite youth and adults from every congregation in our diocese to participate and bring friends.
Hispanic Youth Event
The Annual Hispanic Youth Event in the Diocese of Chicago takes place each September. The event is open to all Jr. High and High School youth from the Diocese of Chicago.
More and more the diocesan staff are trying to be the connective tissue between congregations and help partnerships and collaboration develop. The Associate for Youth Ministry can assist congregations with the design and implementation of local/regional youth events.
Our hope at Camp Chicago is to give our campers the best week of their entire year. We want them to have fun and know what it means to laugh so hard you’re gasping for air. We want them to feel challenged and know they can dare to attempt new things. We want them to make lasting friendships. And we want them to know they are loved by God and called to a life of purpose and meaning.
Diocesan Convention Youth Participation
The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago has a long tradition of welcoming young leaders at Diocesan Convention as youth delegates, alternates, and general participants. Students in grades 9-12 my apply to be one of 12 Youth Delegates who have seat, voice, and vote at Diocesan Convention. It is our goal to have a youth representative from each Deanery and geographic region of the diocese.
MIQRA (meek • rah) is a weekend retreat that focuses on the Bible and allows teens to discover what’s in it, why we should care, and how to read it.
Episcopal Youth Event
The Episcopal Youth Event or “EYE” is the single greatest event the Episcopal Church does. It is around 1500 people who all stay on a college campus in a great location and learn, laugh, and serve. EYE has nationally known speakers, innovative worship experiences, and a plethora of workshops.
