The Camp Chicago Program is designed to help our campers have fun, face new challenges, make friends, and grow in their faith in Christ.
Worship and Christian Education
Each year we have a biblical theme that gives focus to our overall program. In 2016 we focused on being “Deeply Rooted in Christ” and how we can develop deep roots in our faith. During the week campers and staff attend daily Eucharist, reflections, and pray nightly with their cabins. Worship and faith formation is the guiding force at camp and surrounds all that we do.
Daily Classes – Campers sign up each day for different classes taught by our Staff such as:
- Arts and Crafts
- Adventure – Learning outdoor skills like building a shelter, making a fire, or just taking a hike.
- Big Games – Playing large group games outdoors such as Ultimate Frisbee, or Gaga ball.
All Camp Activities – Throughout the week there are numerous times the camp gathers as an entire community for a special activity such as a bonfire, campout, or the “Wild and Wacky Olympics,” featuring the world famous “Sundae, sundae, sundae” event.
High Ropes Course – Camp Stronghold has an amazing high ropes course for campers age 13 and up. The ropes course is a “challenge by choice” activity.
A Day in the Life of Camp Chicago
If you’d like to get a more detailed look at our schedule, go here to see what a day at camp typically looks like. We’re always striving to improve Camp Chicago, so we can’t promise it will be the same way twice. But this will give you an idea what the camp experience is like.
