Easter Appeal Nurtures Seeds of Transformation

Bishop LeeDear Friends in Christ:

Christ is risen. Alleluia!

A few weeks ago, I wrote to let you know that I plan to retire next year. Since then, as I have traveled across our diocese visiting congregations large and small, I have been gratified to see signs of a vital future that will endure long beyond my tenure, or that of any other leader. To nurture these seeds of transformation, I ask you to join me this Eastertide in making a generous contribution to the Bishop’s Appeal.

Even—especially—in this time of transition, my staff and I are committed to proclaiming the power of the resurrection by fostering transformation in our congregations. With your support, we can do even more to support congregations where immigrants have formed faithful, burgeoning communities; to assist long-standing parishes revitalized by commitment to 21st century mission; and to encourage leaders who have pledged to practice repentance and reconciliation by facing our diocese’s legacy of slavery.

Our common life in the Diocese of Chicago is truly a testament to the light of Risen Christ. With the right resources, we can ensure that it shines even more brightly for many years to come. As a pledge of your faith in the future God has in store for us, please consider a generous gift to the Bishop’s Appeal.

The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey D. Lee
Bishop of Chicago
