A Message from Standing Committee President Anne Jolly

Dear People of God in the Diocese of Chicago,

Please join me in praying for our bishop-elect, the Rev. Paula E. Clark, who experienced a cerebral bleed yesterday while exercising, and is receiving treatment at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village.

Paula’s daughter, Micha Green, is with her, and she reports that the bishop-elect is very alert and “giving orders.” Her doctors are determining the best course of treatment after diagnostic testing that took place earlier today.

I know many of you will want to be in touch with the bishop-elect, but please do not call or visit the hospital. The best gift we can offer our bishop-elect now is prayers for comfort and healing.

I will be in touch again when I have information on Paula’s treatment. Some of you may wonder what effect the bishop-elect’s illness might have on the schedule for her April 24 consecration. The answer is that I do not know, but I will share such information when I have it. The bishop-elect is praying we will be able to go forward as planned.

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve your sick servant Paula, and give your power of healing to those who minister to her needs, that she may be strengthened in her weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

God’s Peace,
The Rev. Anne B Jolly
